Forts in monsoons are breathtaking, especially Raigad! Dwelling in its walls is the history of paramount significance, that one simply has to know and marvel at. So, wouldn’t it be better if the drizzle of the rains forms as a backdrop for the legendary story of this great capital of the Maratha Dynasty?
The great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the one to capture Raire. He then reconstructed the fort and named it Raigad. The archeological remains on the fort have a lot to talk, especially Raigad’s 3 main doors – Nanedarvaja, Chittadarvaja, and Mahadarvaja, along with a hidden door, Waghdarvaja, used for an escape back then. Cool, right? The entire construction of Raigad boasts the architecture style used in the Fort Vijaynagar. We’ll talk a lot more about Raigad’s magnificent history when we visit them on 13th -14th of July.
